Where's my Water is the latest iPhone game from Disney mobile and the second iPhone game released by them based upon trying to manipulate liquid. You play as 'Swampy the Alligator' who would love for nothing more to take a bath. Unfortunately all the other resident alligators in the sewer are stealing Swampy's water and its your job to divert it back! The goal is to guide the water to Swampy's bathtub, by digging tunnels with your finger through the dirt, to guide the water's flow. Along the way you can guide the water to collect 3 small rubber duckies to unlock extra levels and bonuses. The goal is to fill the bathtub to a predetermined amount to move to the next level. Your score is based upon how fast you filled the tub, if you had any overflow (which is good), how many of the duckies you managed to round up and if you unlocked any bonuses. With updates promised and rave reviews so far, I expect Where's my Water to stay a Top iPhone and iPad game for a long time.

~ Physics and controls behave as expected: The movement of the water is well, pretty fluid. The liquid behaves the way you'd expect it to in the game which really hastens up the learning curve. The game follows your touch very precisely allowing easy manipulation of the environment.

~ Interesting story line - Follow "Swampy" as he battles thieving alligators, monstrous algae, corrosive acid and a variety of other obstacles. Colorful animations and a cast of characters makes you want to finish the next level to see what happens next.

~ Great value - I've played the game for well over twenty hours now and I only paid .99. Excellent value for the cost.

Cons

~ Blobby water - Sometimes the water looks quite "blobby" if you manage to isolate some water from the main flow.

~ Scroll bar can be difficult to master - If the level is bigger than the screen (which it often is) a scroll bar appears to scroll from top to bottom. I've found that at times (especially during hectic moments in the game) It would be a lot easier if I could scroll with my finger or tilt the phone instead of having to use the scroll bar.

To Kill a Mockingbird - A Book Review

The novel To Kill A Mockingbird revolves around a young girl named Jean Louise Finch who goes by the nicknamed "Scout". Scout experiences different events in her life that dramatically change her life. Scout and her brother Jem are being raised by their father, a lawyer named Atticus and a housekeeper named Calpumia in a small town in the south. At this point in time in the South racism and discriminations towards black was a big issue . The story begins when Scout is 6 years old, and her brother is about to enter the 5th grade. That summer Scout and her brother meet a young boy named Dill who comes from Mississippi to spend the summers there. They become fascinated with a man named "Boo" Radley, a man in his thirties who has not been seen outside of his home in years, mainly because of his suppressed upbringing. They have an impression of Mr. Radley as being this large ugly and evil man. Then comes the trial. Scout's father becomes a defense attorney for a black man, Tom Robinson, who is falsely accused of raping a white women. This has a big affect on Scout. During this trial she gets teased by friends because her father was helping this black man. Scout starts to see the racism that exist. During the trial Scout and her brother and close friend Dill witness the trial. Even though they are young they can see that Mr. Robinson is innocent. Even though Mr. Robinson's innocence was clear even in the eyes of kids, Mr. Robinson was still found guilty. Later in an attempt to escape, Mr. Robinson is shot dead. Scout is extremely disappointed at the verdict and even more at the death of Mr. Robinson and realizes the injustice that exist. Later in a cowardly attempt by the alleged rape victims father, tries to kill Scout and her brother in order to get even with her father for making him look back in court. This is when Mr.Radley makes an appearance again an stabs their attacker. Even though Mr. Radley kills a man he is not tried for murder because he was defending the Scout and her brother. Finally some justice. This gives Scout some hope that is a chance for improvement in this unjust world.

There are many different themes present in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. The first theme which I will discuss is "Prejudice". The whole story revolved around the prejudice views of this Southern community. The whole reason why the trial was going on was because of people views towards blacks in the south. Since the alleged rape victim's father has such a prejudice view towards black, he is embarrassed that his daughter was actually flirting with a black man. To combat this he falsely accuses the innocent Mr. Robinson of rape. If it wasn't for the prejudice view which existed in the south the accusation would had never been brought against Mr. Robinson. These prejudice views in the south created a double standard of justice. With all the negative points that can be found in the story in respect to prejudice, there was a bright spot when it came to the prejudice issue. This "ray of light" came in the form of Scout's father Atticus. Atticus represented hope. Hope that good people still exist. Even in a society filled with hate. Atticus represented the hope that one day things can change

To Kill a Mockingbird - A Book Review

The "Prejudice" theme also ties in well with the title of the book "To Kill A Mocking Bird." In Chapter 10, Scout and Jem Finch get air rifles for Christmas. Scouts father tells her and her brother that it is a sin to kill a mockingbird because mockingbirds are harmless creatures who do nothing but sing for our enjoyment. In the story To Kill a Mockingbird Mr. Robinson is clearly the "Mocking Bird". He is a good man who has never harmed anyone and is figuratively and literally shot by society because of prejudice. The jurors sentence him to death not because he did anything wrong but because of prejudice. He is then later shot for trying to escape this unjust ruling. Mr. Robinson just like a mockingbird is shot for no reason at all.

The second theme which I will discuss is "coming of age". The "Coming of age" theme basically entails a character who evolves to a new level of self awareness through his or her experiences in life. This is clearly the case with Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird. An example of Scout's "coming of age" can be seen when she meets her friend Dill. Dill comes from a broken home and lives somewhere beyond Alabama. Scout who comes from a good home is awaken to the different quality of life that exist and is able to come to a conclusion that life exist beyond the world she knows. Through these experiences she grows more tolerant of others, learning how to "climb into another person's skin and walk around in it." On her first day of school she finds that just like with Dill there are both social and poor classes in society, some are respectable and others not. She also learns that her father is an extra-ordinary man, fighting for a Negro's rights in court. During the trial of Tom Robinson Scout learns about equality and inequality and finally about racial prejudice. By the final chapters of the novel, Scout goes to another "coming of age experience." She learns that good people can still suffer injustice. She realizes this when she see's Tom Robinson suffer injustice even though they did nothing to deserve it. She discover that the courts does not always result in justice. In the end after all of Scout's experiences and discoveries we get the sense that she will not follow the prejudice views which her society upholds. In the end Scout had matured and grown more as a kid, than many adults will do in there lifetime.

The third and final theme which I will discuss is "Justice". In the story To Kill a Mockingbird I feel,the author, Ms. Lee portrays true justice as being best seen through the eyes of the innocent. In the story Scout and her brother, being the innocent,can clearly see the injustice being done to Mr. Robinson. In contrary to Scout and her brother other people in society more specifically the older people in the town, the people who have lived through different experiences, become blinded when it comes to true justice. Or maybe they are not blinded but just choose to ignore it. This is clearly seen when they sentence an innocent man to death. This ignorance of justice can be blamed on the prejudice views which are present and eventually instilled in society in the south. So I feel that Harper Lee is connecting justice with innocence to a certain extent. In my opinion Harper Lee portrays justice as being easily detected. The reason I say this is even the young justice. The problem is society can instill beliefs that can act as a veil and blind the people from justice. The only way to uncover this veil is through people like Atticus who can pass his morality and nobility to the young and the "blinded"

(Would I recommend this book?)

I would definitely recommend people to read the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I found it to be an interesting and powerful book. I feel the book does a great job in portraying the extreme prejudice that existed in the south at that time. I feel this book makes a powerful statement on how justice can be altered through racism. I also think that the themes found in the book are themes which can still be found in our current society and that makes it the more interesting. You can even make a case that prejudice still has an effect in our legal system today. So if you are looking for a powerful book of "coming of age" and the battle for justice I would highly recommend To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

Does Warren Buffett Buy Penny Stocks?

Warren Buffett is probably the best known investor in the history of investing. He is studied closely by many and he has many devotees who try to emulate him with varying degrees of success.

What most people don't realize though is that Warren Buffett has so many billions of dollars to manage and grow these days, his investment style HAD to change through the years. The types of stocks he used to buy early on are different than the types of stocks he buys now but he used to make more profit than he does now. See what I mean by considering the following statistic:

Investors in Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway saw a staggering 10,000% gain in the 15 year period from 1977 to 1992. Yes, you read those zeros right - that a TEN THOUSAND percent gain in 15 years!

Does Warren Buffett Buy Penny Stocks?

However, during the next 15 years, Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway brought investors only a 1200% gain. This is still a great profit compared to other investment firms but it is about 8 times less profit than what Buffett was able to do during the first 15 years.

So what is the difference?

Why was Buffett able to make a much higher percentage profit his first 15 years?

The short answer is that early on he was able to buy penny stocks!

The longer answer is that he was managing much less money those first 15 years. Portfolio managers who manage huge amounts of money can not take advantage of penny stocks and small caps (remember the line between penny stocks and small caps can be very blurry).

In order for a large investment firm or portfolio manager managing billions of dollars to show a good increase percentage wise, they have to buy tens of thousands of shares every time they make a purchase. This means they can not buy penny stocks and small caps that have less capitalization on hand and fewer stock shares outstanding. If they were to try to buy this many shares of these companies with a small capitalization (less than 10 million for example), their purchase would make the price of the stock skyrocket immediately and they would out-price themselves out of profit before the deal even went through! The SEC might also come after them for "manipulating" the price (the SEC did go after Buffett once for something similar).

Alice Schroeder, who has written the only authorized biography of Buffett entitled, "The Snowball," describes how Buffet not only bought "penny stocks" he bought them listed on the pink sheets! Pink sheet stocks are usually the low end of the spectrum remember.

Buffett knew in his early days that penny stocks and small caps are the fastest way to make big profits in the stock market. You can still apply the underlying principles that Buffett is famous for such as only buying stock in a company you can understand... BUT if you want to make really good money in the stock market and you want to do so quickly, buying penny stocks is the best strategy.

Buffett would buy penny stocks now if he could. He told Business Week, "It's a huge structural advantage not to have a lot of money. I think I could make you 50% a year on million. No, I know I could. I guarantee that."

The only reason he doesn't buy them nowadays is he manages too much money and it would manipulate the price of them if he bought them.

However, if you are working with less money - a few hundred to several thousand or even a million - you will make far more money if you buy stock like Buffett did early on when he got his highest returns!

The only caveat I would offer here is that you really do have to know which penny stocks to purchase in order to make profits like 50% and 100% and you simply can NOT use traditional fundamental analysis to figure these out. The big boys use fundamental analysis on mid caps and large caps and even the larger small caps but it simply does not work on penny stocks. For these cheap stocks with small caps, you need an entirely different research strategy - as unconventional as Buffett himself. Very few people have demonstrated a real talent for picking the right ones consistently but there are a few geniuses out there who do.

What I have found to the easiest way to find the highly profitable penny stocks and avoid the scams is to plug into these genius minds. I purchase penny stock picks from reputable sources and make a bundle doing so. You want picks from someone who has a track record of picking penny stocks that soar very consistently, i.e. they didn't just get lucky once. Then of course you want to test these picks before you place any real money on them.

Picking stocks is a lot like buying a car. When you buy a car, you can't just go with the first one that's the right color - you need to know about it. You want to check under the hood, or at least kick the tires. If you don't know about cars, you bring along your brother or your dad or someone who does. Most importantly, you take your time. If you're not sure about the mileage or the sound from the exhaust you pass it up and wait for a better deal. It's no different when you pick stocks.

The first thing you need before you buy shares in a company is a stock trading account. For this, you need a broker. If it's your first time, I recommend using a discount broker. This type of broker will process your buy and sell orders, and little else. Where do you go to find a stock broker? Try your bank. There might be other less expensive options, but your bank is a place you feel comfortable, and you know how it works. Chances are if you have an account there they can help you start a share trading account easily and at a low cost. I trade shares using online banking.

For your first purchase, you want to buy what you know. Look at 3 companies that you like - companies you have bought things from or know people at. Pick up a newspaper and write these four things down:

Year's Move (YM) - This is how much the share grew in value last year, and a fairly good indication of what the company will try to beat this year. Dividend Yield (DY) - This is a percentage of the value of each share that the company pays to shareholders each year. Some shares don't pay dividends, but make up for it with more growth (if the company doesn't pay shareholders it can spend that money making the company more valuable). Price/Earnings (PE) - This is simply the price of the share divided by how much the company made in this financial year. This figure can be misleading depending on current phase of the financial year, but basically a low Price/Earnings ratio means that the company's stock is valued about right for how much money the company is making.

Either that or the share is undervalued and could go through the roof any day now. If the ratio is high it means that the company has a lot of projected growth, but little actual profits so far. This was common during the "internet bubble" when companies had huge prospects but hadn't made any money yet.

Once you have these, it's time to look at some graphs. Go to the company's website, and click on "Investor Relations". Download everything, and look at graphs of their share price and dividend payouts for the last year, 3 years and 5 years.Now read the newspaper. Not the front page, the boring bits at the back about money. Most of these articles are fairly easy to read, and reading them for a few weeks will give you a pretty good idea of what's going on in the world of high finance.

Picking stocks is about more than knowing the company. It's about knowing what's going on in the world that will affect the company. Now it's time to decide on your goals and make a buy case. First, write what you want out of your investment. Do you want to build capital over 10 years, or do you want to double your money in a year, but with the risk of losing half of it? If you are the former, then you are a growth investor. Otherwise you are a value investor. You might be somewhere in between, but since this is a first purchase it would be a good exercise to pick stocks according to a strict investment philosophy.

Lastly, before you buy shares, ask people. Ask someone who works for the company or ask an investment advisor, even if you have to pay them. If there is even one factor that you have not considered, your entire share trading experience could be very painful.

Remember, buying shares is not gambling if you know the rules. Understand your risks, and don't take any you cannot afford to make. Avoid startups for a first investment - save the riskier stocks for when you are more confident.
